Big news: BrewCycle wins funding!

We’re thrilled to share that our BrewCycle Manchester project has just been awarded funding from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) Foundational Economy Innovation Fund.

So, what’s BrewCycle all about? At its heart, it’s a fresh, local idea that turns grain and coffee from Manchester’s breweries and cafés into something amazing: gourmet mushrooms, rich organic fertiliser and flour for craft baking. But the real magic isn’t just in what we produce, it’s in who makes it and why. BrewCycle creates real opportunities for people on probation and others who’ve faced barriers to work, giving them skills, confidence and a genuine role in a sustainable food system rooted right here in Greater Manchester.

We’re extra proud to be building this alongside fantastic partners like FungAll.org, who bring creativity, expertise and a huge amount of energy to the project. Together, we’re proving that circular economy thinking isn’t just about cutting waste. It’s about creating fresh starts, connecting local businesses and making our communities stronger and greener.

A huge thank you to GMCA for believing in this vision and backing it with funding and support.

And this really is just the beginning. Over time, we hope BrewCycle will grow beyond this first pilot, linking even more cafés, breweries, urban growers and craft bakers. By bringing in more local businesses and partners who care about community, sustainability and inclusion, we can create even more local food, more training opportunities and a bigger impact across Greater Manchester.

Stay tuned as BrewCycle gathers momentum. We’ll keep sharing our progress and stories along the way.
